Crowns

Lasting Protection, 'Natural' Perfection

If you’re self-conscious about your smile due to cracked, broken, decayed, or worn teeth, we can bring back your healthy, natural-looking smile with dental crowns. Designed to fit snugly and function as normal teeth, crowns protect your teeth from further damage and preserve your jaw’s correct natural alignment. We use precious metal, porcelain pressed to metal, and all-porcelain crowns with excellent success. However, for appearance purposes we often recommend all-ceramic crowns because of the precise color matching systems available and because of their hard-wearing durability.

Making a Good Impression

We can typically design and fit your crowns in just a couple steps. At your first appointment, we'll prepare the recipient teeth by gently removing the outer portion. Then, Dr. Shannon will carefully and judiciously eliminate decayed areas, creating the proper shape and size teeth to accommodate your crowns. Next, he'll make a precise mold or impression of your teeth and send it to our special professional dental laboratory where specialists will carefully produce your custom fit crowns. During this production process we'll protect your teeth and gums by fitting you with temporary crowns.

Fit and Fantastic

Once your crowns are ready, your doctor will remove the temporaries, then fit and adjust the permanent ones into place. Before affixing them permanently, he'll evaluate them again for appearance, color match, bite discrepancies, and accuracy of fit. Once they're on, caring for your new crowns is no different than proper hygiene for your other teeth: conscientious twice-daily brushing and daily flossing to protect the base from bacterial growth and regular visits to our office for professional cleanings.
