Timothy Patrick Shannon, DDS

Dr. ShannonDr. Shannon believes that the relationship between a patient and the dentist is a partnership. The best partnership is one in which the patient is an active participant in pursuing the goal of great dental health that lasts for a lifetime. With 30 years of experience in dentistry, Dr. Shannon advocates a philosophy of proactive dental treatment that emphasizes the importance of prevention.

Having grown up in the Dallas area, Dr. Shannon graduated from Highland Park High School in 1972. He went on to study at Baylor University where he received his undergraduate degree in Psychology with academic emphasis on Predental Studies in biology and chemistry. From there he attended the University of Texas Dental School at Houston, graduating in 1981, and receiving his license to practice dentistry soon thereafter. Since then Dr. Shannon has completed hundreds of hours of advanced continuing dental education with various experts in the profession, including studying at the prestigious Pankey Institute.

He also participates in a local dental study club that keeps him current on the latest in dental technology and techniques. Dr. Shannon has been nominated by his peers for Dentist of the Year in the state of Texas.

Dr. Shannon is active in the local community, professionally and personally. He is the 2010-11 President of the North Texas Dental Society, the local component of the American Dental Association and the Texas Dental Association. He also is a member of the Collin College Dental Hygiene School Advisory Committee and is Past Chairman of the Board of the nonprofit Rite to Smile Foundation. On a personal level, Dr. Shannon is the Vice President of the Stonebridge Ranch Homeowners Association, having served on its Board of Directors for more than 3 years. He is the Chairman of the McKinney Library "Friends of the Library", having previously served on the Library Advisory Board for 5 years. He is also an active member of the McKinney Chamber of Commerce.

In his free time Dr. Shannon enjoys reading, especially history, writing, gardening, and playing golf. He and his wife Kathleen are long time members of Prestonwood Baptist Church, where he serves as a deacon and teaches a Bible study class.
