Dr. Shannon believes that the relationship between a patient and the dentist is a partnership. The best partnership is one in which the patient is an active participant in pursuing the goal of great dental health that lasts for a lifetime. With 30 years of experience in dentistry, Dr. Shannon advocates a philosophy of proactive dental treatment that emphasizes the importance of prevention.

Having grown up in the Dallas area, Dr. Shannon graduated from Highland Park High School in 1972. He went on to study at Baylor University where he received his undergraduate degree in Psychology with academic emphasis on Predental Studies in biology and chemistry. From there he attended the University of Texas Dental School at Houston, graduating in 1981, and receiving his license to practice dentistry soon thereafter. Since then Dr. Shannon has completed hundreds of hours of advanced continuing dental education with various experts in the profession, including studying at the prestigious Pankey Institute.

He also participates in a local dental study club that keeps him current on the latest in dental technology and techniques. Dr. Shannon has been nominated by his peers for Dentist of the Year in the state of Texas.

Dr. Shannon is active in the local community, professionally and personally. He is the 2010-11 President of the North Texas Dental Society, the local component of the American Dental Association and the Texas Dental Association. He also is a member of the Collin College Dental Hygiene School Advisory Committee and is Past Chairman of the Board of the nonprofit Rite to Smile Foundation. On a personal level, Dr. Shannon is the Vice President of the Stonebridge Ranch Homeowners Association, having served on its Board of Directors for more than 3 years. He is the Chairman of the McKinney Library "Friends of the Library", having previously served on the Library Advisory Board for 5 years. He is also an active member of the McKinney Chamber of Commerce.

In his free time Dr. Shannon enjoys reading, especially history, writing, gardening, and playing golf. He and his wife Kathleen are long time members of Prestonwood Baptist Church, where he serves as a deacon and teaches a Bible study class.

As Financial Coordinator and Scheduling Assistant, Kathleen enjoys helping patients receive the greatest benefit possible from their dental plans and finding ways to help with out-of-pocket expense. She is always available to answer questions about dental insurance, payment plans, treatment scheduling and enjoys helping patients meet their goals for their dental health as well as their finances. Kathleen's family is from Jackson, Mississippi and Kathleen graduated from Ole Miss with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Prior to joining her husband in opening Shannon DentalCare, her business experience included time as a research assistant and commercial appraiser.

Kathleen has two wonderful nieces who have been like her daughters, Ginny and Ashley.

Kathleen is an active participant in Bible Study Fellowship. She has served as a discussion leader, children's leader and children's supervisor. She currently attends the Plano Evening Women's Class and leads a discussion group on Monday nights. She and her husband are active members of Prestonwood Baptist Church. Kathleen has volunteered on several event-planning committees for the McKinney Chamber of Commerce.

Kathleen's family loves Boston terriers and has had several during the years. During her spare time, Kathleen enjoys sewing, cooking, reading and window shopping for antiques.

Yolanda Sherrill, or "Yo", graduated Magna Cum Laude from Dental Hygiene School at what is now known as Howard College in Big Spring, Texas. Originally from Lubbock, Allen has been her home for the past 18 years.  She is crazy about her two grown sons– they are the joy of her life. 

Yo attends church in Frisco and calls that her second home. She loves cats, all kinds of water sports and in her spare time she likes to play a good competitive game of racquetball.

Yo's passion for dental hygiene is fueled by the rewarding feeling she gets when she helps patients achieve good oral health in complement to their overall health. 

Shelly Calvert has had the privilege of working side-by-side with Dr. Shannon as his dental assistant since the practice opened. As a Dental Assistant, Shelly helps Dr. Shannon provide advanced treatment for patients of all ages. Her chairside manner is a significant factor in helping patients feel comfortable while undergoing treatments. Shelly has experience in pediatric dentistry as well as general dentistry.

Shelly and her husband Gary are blessed with two children. Cortney graduated in 3 years from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, receiving a Bachelors degree in Sociology and a minor in Social Work and is a social worker with Dallas Child Protective Services (CPS). Their son Brandon is attending college in Nevada and is pursuing a career in criminal justice. Shelly and her family feel like the Father above has blessed them richly.
