Welcome Breakfast for New 2003 McKinney Independent School District
Teachers
Each year the McKinney Chamber of Commerce hosts a breakfast to welcome
new teachers into the McKinney Independent School District. The committee,
headed by Cammie Henderson of the McKinney Chamber, met several times
over a two-month period in anticipation of making the event an enjoyable
affair for all attendees. Approximately 300 new teachers, administrative
personnel and local dignitaries attended the breakfast, hosted by McKinney
North High School.
Kathleen Shannon, of Shannon DentalCare, recruited local elementary students
to keep our new teachers entertained and inspired during the breakfast. The
choral ensemble from Reuben Johnson Elementary performed patriotic music as
the breakfast was getting started.
Kathleen and Rene Lake, our hygienist, assisted in stuffing “grab bags” the
afternoon before the breakfast. These bags were jam-packed full with lots of
wonderful donated gift items that each new teacher would find useful, both
personally and professionally.
