2004 Awards Banquet
Each year in the fall, the McKinney Chamber starts the process of selecting
various citizens and businesses to recognize at an Awards Banquet scheduled
the following January. As Events & Communications Director, Cammie
Henderson is responsible to coordinate the myriad of details involved
in planning this elaborate event.
Along with many other volunteers, Kathleen Shannon had the honor of serving
on the 2004 committee. This year’s dinner was held at the El Dorado Country
Club, and the theme featured a Hollywood Squares game. Kathleen was instrumental
in recruiting the musical entertainment. The Collin County Community College
Jazz Band, directed by Chris Morgan, provided background music for the crowd’s
listening pleasure. They performed old-time musical favorites from venues such
as My Three Sons, The Tonight Show, Three’s Company, and The Mary Tyler
Moore Show.
Kathleen also shared in the fun of decorating the banquet hall and entryway
of the El Dorado Country Club the afternoon before the dinner. A group of approximately
25 volunteers gave countless energy and time to make the event a memorable
occasion. Gifts, Etc. (the corporate sponsor for the 2004 Awards Banquet) provided
an array of tabletop decorations, beautiful ribbons and balloons, and jazzy-looking
Hollywood-Walk-of-Fame Stars to memorialize past recipients of various awards.
